We did use knives, but we had to make the kits from fallen cottonwoods or aspens (aside from the cord. I used shoe laces). Speaking of which, do you think (or know) that yucca cordage is strong enough to be the bow string for a bow drill?

At 10:06am on May 5, 2007, cindy roberts said…: Andre.....Welcome! I've been trying to find the right materials here in Marin to make cordage. So far, nothing is working. Cattails are supposed to be good, but I must be doing something wrong. They keep tearing as I twist. Any advice would be great.
