About Me:
I grew up in McMinnville Oregon. The spiritual part of my upbringing was centered around the ceremonies and spirituality of the Lakota Indians, and about a year and a half ago I became Christain. I go to school at Clark College in Vancouver Washington as a pre-med student. I love natural medicine and want to study that along with allopathic medicine with the goal of bridging the gap. Right now I have an online travel website with my Mom where people can book their own flights, vacations, cruises, golf, etc. There are some awesome looking outdoor adventures on there as well. ;)

My Dad is a Naturopathic Doctor with a clinic in Vancouver and my Mom is a Massage Therapist.

When I was about Ten or Eleven years old I started searching and found Tom Brown and The Tracker School. They didn't have Coyote Tracks back then, so I was out of luck for a while. At 18 I took the Standard. About a month after that I went on a week long Survival Trek with Earth Walk NorthWest in Yakima, Wa. Since then I've practiced primitive skills when I can (which is less often than I'd like) by myself and sometimes with friends from the Tracker School. Most recently I took a bow making class in which I learned a LOT.

My First Bow

Last weekend I took a bow making class in Eugene, Or. I couldn't stay for the whole thing, which lasted Friday afternoon through Sunday night, but due to the help of friends I got to take part of it. The goal of the class wasn't to make a beautiful thing that would hang on your wall and crack if you tried to shoot it. This was more of a... take chunks off this stick until you get a stick that bends type of thing. :)
I'd thought about making a bow before. I always heard about the ones that people… Continue

Tracking Dirt Time in Portland

Hello Trackers.

If anyone in the Portland area is interested, a local group called Deer Dance hosts tracking "Dirt Time" the last Sunday of every month. I'm going this month as well as another member of our standard and one of the volunteers. It's in one of the parks in Portland OR, the only cost is the $4 entry fee into the park. If anybody's interested I can give more info, or you can probably find it on the web. -Happy Tracking

Brain-tan

Hello again Tracker friends.

A few weeks ago I found something I'd been looking for since the Standard and even before. Usable roadkill. This time it was in the form of a squirrel. Yesterday I took it out of the freezer and began what I hope will be a successful brain-tanning process.

Once I had begun skinning it I wished I'd let it thaw a bit longer. It's an interesting thing, trying to cut around the "anus and reproductive organs" when the animal's legs are still frozen in pla

Survival Trek

Hello Tracker friends!
I've been writing on my page about a survival trek I completed last week with Earth Walk Northwest. Feel free to check it out, and I'd love to hear about the post-Standard adventures everybody's been having. I hope everybody has a great day full of tracking and awareness.

When are you gonna post your squirrel pics? I just collected and skinned a wonderfully intact road kill squirrel myself. I never knew how beautifully colorful and soft a squirrel fur really is!!!

Hey Rebecca, Thanks for mailing me. Yes I am still the prez of the SAR & still working on my skills but not enough. I have been doing quite a bit of skiing recently in the back country and got to go downhill skiing on Tuesday with both of my sons. It was a treat except that the one who skis full time and works as a coach worked us over pretty hard and had no sympathy for our fatigue. I should leave some kind of profile on this site and need some input from some good trackers into the pictures of some tracks that I have taken. is your e-mail on this site?If you come back to Paonia soon we will have some avalanche rescue training on Feb 22 and some kind of High angle training in mid March so you are welcome any time. Thanks for keeping in touch! Phil

So far I have read Grandfather, The Tracker, and Case files of the tracker, and now Im reading The Search. My girl friends father lives in New York and I go to school in Jersey; I ussally see him every week end. My girl friend thinks its neat and her father raised her with the same kind spirituality, but shes is definitly not into spending 3 weeks in the woods. I'll be doing it in NJ. Have you read any of his books?
