Tonight, was my first real tracking exercise since I finished the Standard a couple weeks ago. It was dark outside, but I asked my wife to go out to the front yard and walk whatever pattern in the yard with one entry and exit point. Then I had her place a small coin between the concrete and grass where she stepped out. To my own amazement I found her first track and then found one more and another. I then came to a turn she made and it wasn't too long till I came back into the house sporting the hidden coin. I know how trivial that may seem, but it was a small success that felt even better than when I made fire with the hand-drill for the first time. Remember that feeling? It was a challenge being dark, so I utilized my yellow gel flashlight and played with different angles; additionally, I spent some time getting my knees dirty as I studied a broken blade of grass here and a there or a leaf that was crushed down. Whatever this great feeling inside is about, it sure bolsters my confidence and proves Tom right.
